ethics and art

I've been pushing you to discuss the ethics of representation in your books--culturally, economically, racially, politically. Here's a good article about another ethical issue (animal cruelty in art).

Can you find examples of animals being used for the sake of art?

Can you find a link between the way the animals are treated and the way people are portrayed or used in your books?

Remember, full sentences! And ask questions to your peers (using names).

  1. In my book, Starnger than fiction, he dresses up like a dog and walks around town. Alot of people kick him and abuse him and call him stupid. Which is very similar on how some people treat animals. They dont look at them as equals, they think animals are less intelligent that humans, so they take advantage of them.

And example of animals being used as art could be fur coats and other articles of clothing and furniture. What the animals have to go through for that is disgusting, but i still see so many people that are willing to buy rugs made out of animal fur!

^^Peta video on how cruel it is^^

Im all about animal rights, but im also about artists rights, so im torn about this blog.

Is it ok to sacrifice artistic rights for animal rights? Vice versa?

this is really to anyone who can answer it.
