  2. Jnissi, that's terrible to hear.

I grew up in a mostly Jewish neighborhood. Later in my high school, a lot of Kashmiri started moving in too. I was my only blonde friend for a long time and I was made fun of a lot for what television portrayed as "normal."

I am most interested in this post because it doesn't have a stereotype for all ethnic groups, but picks and chooses groups. I am wondering if you've thought about the international community and what it's like outside of the states.

Again, back up your statements with facts and avoid using emotion or memory as a fact. It is too easy to say "whites are scared" and not explain or clarify your ideas.

Jnissi is hitting on a dangerous and slippery slope---where do stereotypes come from? How are statistics used to affect our perspectives of groups of people? For instance, if the stats are higher in African Americans, what are the reasons? Is the stat as important as the reason(s)? There should be a few of those statistics so we can see how economics come into play, how education comes into it all, and whether or not the sex was consensual. This is an incomplete portrait of the idea.
