Blind or Deaf..What we take for granted...
Hellen Keller was an american author, political activist, and lectureer. She was not born blind and deaf but at nineteen months old she contracted an illness which could of been meningitis. Unfortunately if left her blind and deaf. One of my favorite quotes from her was "The one thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision." If you were to pick either being blind or deaf, what would you choose and why? I would pick deaf over blind. For me, I can't live without sight. You wouldn't be able to appreciate visual beauty. Sight is a beautiful thing. But being deaf, I can't imagine my life without music. I'm a quiet person I would say than being loud so I can live in a world full of quiet and still be able to communicate by reading lips and body language. But it really depends on you and your personality. My question is if you're deaf, how can one appreciate music, and can you feel rythem. And if you're blind, with not ever knowing what anything looks like, do blind people have an imagination?

I think that if everyone was blind there would be less discrimination against people and we would have no need to spend money of fancy clothes or make-up. I would choose being blind for not only this but, also so I could hear and compose music.
ReplyDeleteIm the same, i would choose def over blind. I love the visual beauty of life. Sunsets, artwork, movies. :) But it would be hard to live without music...Since my taste is soo impecable..and better than Alex's :)
ReplyDeleteto answer the first question.. i would rather not be anyone.... but if that was to happen i would rather to be death.. the reason i say this is because thru your site you can actually no the sound of thing just by looking.. like if a trains going by.. you no that the noise is really loud. but the resaon why i picked site is because.. seeing to me means everything. if i xcant see i dont think its no purpose for me being here. like yesterday i was helping a blind man cross the street because he didnt no if the light was green or not.. and was about to walk out in the middle of the street... thats risky.. so site is very important. and yes i think blind people do have imagination because they paint pictures in thier mines thinking orf what things could look like...
ReplyDeletei would rather be deaf than blind, because i appreciate sight more than sound. also, being deaf i would get taught sign language, and i think thats pretty nice way of communication. if i am blind, i really cant learn a technique to adjust. i would miss music, but i can live without it, i would still rather have visual.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't want to be either but if I had to choose it would be deaf rather than blind. I want to see and you can feel music and sound if you really concentrate hard enough.
ReplyDeleteyes blind people have an imagination...
ReplyDeletelike they mite imagine what being able to see feels like. I believe they have imagination because imagination takes place in the mind and it has nothing to do with your eyes
I want to be blind!!! haha!
ReplyDeletei think i rather be blind because i love to listen too much. i have a strong passion for music, and i feel without hearing that i might as well be blind.
ReplyDeletei would rather be deaf because then i woould know that i could just get that fixed with those hearing aids
ReplyDeleteI cant pick because i love seeing new things and I cant piture my life with out music.IL RATHER DIE!
ReplyDeletei think i would choose deaf or blind because if im blind i can imagine music notes and create them and if im deaf i can read lips and create something with my hands
ReplyDeleteI would much rather be deaf than blind. If I were blind, I would need to be dependent on people to get around. Plus, being that I'm a photography major, being blind wouldn't really allow me to succeed in that endeavor.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I think a deaf person still notices rhythm. Rhythm isn't just what you can hear, you can feel it too.
Yeah I would definitely rather be deaf. Hearing things isn't as important to me as seeing them. And like Noah said, as a photography major vision is a necessity.
