David After The Dentist

When are we going to start to ask the question when is to young. this kid became very well known after this video of him on drugs after the dentist. Yes it may be funny to older generations of people who know the dangers in using drugs at that age. Not everyone on youtube is mature, and or a mature age. People, kids mostly might see this video and see how the kid is acting and how people are responding to his actions wile on the drugs. this video gives kids the image that being high is acceptable and people let this video be acceptable because the kid just came from the dentist. most kids start drugs with things they find around the house like prescription drugs and think its ok because the drug was given by a doctor so what harm could it possibly do. Youtube is becoming a form of a gateway drug because it makes people think that it is acceptable because it is advertizaed and the feedback is positive for the most part. so should youtube be 18 or older or should there be limits to what is acceptable to post for everyone to see.

  1. well obviously you just asked if there should be a limit on free expression to an art community so what do you think ? lol i mean i totally get what you get but youtube HAS been over ran by its orginal meaning to be a means of sharing forms of expression that are pricelss and that sum feel should be shared with the world. i totally am fine with the age limit being were it is @ as things stand currently but i wonder should we have more strict sensors on the things that are posted on you tube besides the age verification ( which anyone can pass )

  3. I believe that in todays society drugs are glorified in all aspects of life not only YouTube. So if we just put a age limit on these types of videos children would still get message from a different avenue whether it be music, movies, or tv. What we need to do is stop lying to our children about the effects of softer drugs. If they do try these drugs and realize that they were misled, they will believe that they have been lied too about many other harder drugs and I believe would be more prone to try these more dangerous substances.

  6. I do believe that there are some certain videos that should have an age limit. But how can one really verify one that is really how old they really are. Some can easily just make up their age and lie. But down under you tube there are comments that are not tended for young kids. But that is already taken cared off. You can easily delete a comment. There are also videos blocked out for bad conetnt.. But with that kid on the video…the kid wasn’t harmed in making of it. I see nothing wrong with that video and I don’t think that it is a gateway drug for kids.

  8. Another question that's been brought up about this video (I think Kristen mentioned it yesterday actually) could be: is this kind of thing being posted in public for everyone to see a kind of exploitation? It's intended to be funny, as some people already mentioned (and it is pretty funny) but the little kid is clearly not in on the joke. Is it fair for parents to post things like this of their children when the kids don't have any say over something personal like this going out over the whole internet?

What about the fact that the parents are now selling T-shirts and "David after dentist" memorabilia?

  9. I'm torn over this. The kid isn't on hard drugs, so I don't think this is showing kids that doing illegal or prescription drugs is a fun path. I don't see the correlation between the two. But, I don't think anyone should have the right to post a video that could hurt your image. It's not like his parents had him sign a release, but then again, they don't have to.

When this kid is actually old enough to understand why this video is funny, nobody will even remember him. He'll be fine.
